We have not been approached on the possibility of a joint bid for the 2034 FIFA World Cup, and we are not in a position to lead such a bid. However, we look forward to engaging with the regional Member Associations to explore the various options that are open.

Following the AFF Council's announcement of the new Suzuki Cup format two weekends ago, the FAS has been in discussions with the Singapore Sports Hub on the possibility of staging our matches at the National Stadium. Both parties are keen for this to happen, and we are working together on the premise of the competition period being blocked for the FAS – bearing in mind that the competition draw has yet to take place.

Any return of sit-out clubs will be subject to the outcome of the ongoing review of the S.League. Thereafter, they will also need to show to the FAS their management, footballing and financial capability to make such a return.

It is premature at this stage to talk about the funding from SportSG as discussions are still ongoing. We are gathering feedback from stakeholders on the proposed plans for the S.League so that we can provide SportSG with all the relevant views as they contemplate the desired outcome for the S.League.

The FAS did not suggest a format change at any point during the season. There was a suggestion from a club regarding promotion and relegation, but after careful consideration, the FAS Competitions Committee decided that there will not be any changes to the format of the Women’s Premier League (WPL) and Women’s National League (WNL).

As per our standard operating procedures, the incident of the Woodlands Wellington FC players leaving the pitch has been referred to the Football Association of Singapore Disciplinary Committee. For amateur leagues with two consecutive games played at the same venue, the standard procedure is to have the appointed match officials rotate their roles after the first match to minimise fatigue.

The racist abuse that our FAS referee Sukhbir Singh received online recently has no place in the world of football. The FAS condemns such abuse and takes a very strong stand against it. Discrimination of any kind against a person on account of race, skin colour or ethnic origin is strictly prohibited and punishable by the provisions of the FIFA and AFC statutes.

Our Under-15 National Team had a heavy schedule, playing two games in three days against two different older age-group teams, which is very physically demanding on the boys. The opponents were not only older but also physically stronger than our boys. Fitness is an area we have identified as a weakness of our youth players, and we have actively been trying to improve their strength and fitness levels via specific programmes per age-category for more than a year now.

We had discussions with UNICESS yesterday after they informed us of the players' withdrawal. Ultimately, as they are the match promoter, commercial decisions are made by them. That said, we do understand the fans' frustrations and the difficult situation UNICESS has been put in by the late withdrawals. It is not easy for them to find a satisfactory outcome as such matches are extremely expensive to put together.

The safety of our fans, players and officials will always be of paramount importance to the Football Association of Singapore and we already have, in consultation with the authorities and security agencies, various security measures in place at the stadium on matchdays. The measures include checks by security personnels at the entrances of the stadium. We will also be enhancing security measures for the upcoming matches against Chinese Taipei and Argentina. These measures include additional security marshals, bag checks, and hand-held metal detector checks at entry points.

We are aware of and are monitoring the current situation. The Ministry of Foreign Affairs currently has no travel advisory for Qatar; we will continue to engage the MFA and will provide an update if there are further developments.

At this point in time, we do not have a futsal eco-system in Singapore. There is a major misconception of what futsal is. It is an entity of its own, and should not be confused with small-sided games (5v5) played indoors and/or on artificial turf.
