FAS' REPLY TO MEDIA QUERY REGARDING U22 TEAM'S FRIENDLY AGAINST MYANMAR
“The Myanmar Football Federation (MFF) had invited the Singapore Under-22 National Team to play an international friendly against the Myanmar Under-22 National Team in Yangon, Myanmar, on 19 February 2017. As part of our ongoing preparations for the 2017 SEA Games, our coaches accepted the invitation and in accordance with international guidelines, the match was also sanctioned by the Asian Football Confederation. It was a positive experience for our team – which had an average age of 19.67.
“We appreciate and value the strong relations we have with MFF. It is absurd and disrespectful for anyone to suggest that our Under-22 National Team had played a much younger age-group team in Yangon.”
